A civil partnership is a legal relationship which can be registered by two people. A civil partnership gives a partner the same rights and responsibilities as marriage. When a civil partnership breaks down, either partner can apply to the Court for a dissolution on grounds of unreasonable behaviour or separation. They can also apply for financial provision in the form of a capital payment, property transfer, or pension sharing order.
